june 2007 news E-mail

thanks to all those who made the june 14th gig at the vortex a great musical occasion - please watch this space for a selection of recordings of:

-evan parker solo
-liam noble/christine tobin duo
-hans koller/paul clarvis duo
-outhouse (mark hanslip/robin fincker/jonny brierly/dave smith plus guest jeanne added)

steve lacy:
inspired by sidney bechet, cecil taylor, thelonious monk, gil evans, anton webern, as well as by painters, dancers, writers, poets and architects, steve lacy made free and cool and simple and hot and complex and deeply felt, above all life affirming music right to the end of his life in june 04. the unique sound of his soprano saxophone inspired a world of musicians and artists from john coltrane to evan parker, to liam noble, christine tobin, robin fincker, mark hanslip... the inspiration doesn't stop. reasons to celebrate..

earconnector curates four sets on the night. if for reasons beyond your control you aren't in town or are otherwise engaged, al bonney will record the performances and a selection will be available for late listening. but the ideal scenario, of course, is to be in the moment, and then revisit it, the silent sound of your own listening being an added bonus.

earconnector recommends:
evan parker/steve lacy 'saxophone special' (available on EMANEM )
hans koller/steve lacy 'london ear' (available on 33records )
liam noble recordings on basho records
christine tobin recordings on babel
new outhouse recording due later in the year. check earconnector site for updates
